Does Amazon Protect Patented Products?

Inventions are fully safeguarded once the patent registration has been approved by the United States. Even after that, the patent owner is still responsible for defending their rights. This is also true on the Amazon platform. If invited, the patent owner will be asked to sign an agreement that identifies up to four sellers who, in their opinion, infringe.

The patent owner also agrees to keep confidential all information learned during the process and to waive their right to sue Amazon. A seller accused of breaking the law can choose to sign the agreement or have the accused product removed from Amazon's list. The process starts with an email to Amazon stating that the patent owner wishes to participate and providing the patent number and the standard Amazon identification number, or ASIN, of the product or products in question.
